“Fiestas del pitic” it’s celebrated every year in Hermosillo Sonora, specifically in the historical center of the city, it started 9years ago. The date when this happens is usually, the last weekend of May.

The “fiestas del pitic” are celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of thefounding of Hermosillo in 1700, although it was called Santisima Trinidad del Pitic, later Villa del Pitic and today it’s called Hermosillo being the capital ofSonora since 1879, This events are organized by the city council and the institute of culture and arts.

Days before the event, on the streets of thehistorical center of Hermosillo, they install many big stages, food and cultural items stalls; they also prepare exhibitions of art and photography.

Thisevent presents national and international artists, singers and dancers, there are different activities for all the family since 5 pm until midnight, there are up15 daily shows. The artist are in the different scenarios like the “Noches de cabaret” in the Bicentennial Plaza, the “noches de palacio” in GovernmentPalace, the “rincon del jazz” in the Obregon Club, the “scenario joven”, the children’s space, and the “callejon literario” where there are works of literatureand novels; as well as various galleries and exhibition areas in the historical center.

The “fiestas del pitic” are one of the best celebrations becausethe citizens can enjoy free events and art exhibits that are rare in the community, also they can learn a little about the history of the capital of Sonora.
