AN ARTICLE: GLOBALISATION: GOOD NEWS OR BAD?
Is it a menace or a boon? Is local culture really under threat? What is first-hand evidence do you see of Globalisation and what are your own reactionsto it?
Globalisation has some advantages and disadvantages. Positively, we can consider that thanks to this phenomenon, we have an opening market, like in the European Union; Mass media, speciallyInternet; Growth and mergers between companies; Public companies privatization; Global Economy and market; Universal access to the Culture and the Science; and finally, more development scientist -technician. On the contrary, this continuous process supposes an excessive increase of the Consumerism; Possible disappearance of the biological and cultural diversity; Disappearance of the Welfarestate; More emphasis puts in the financial Economy than to the real Economy; Its rejection for extremist groups drives to the Terrorism; the only “Thought”, which rejects social doctrines and policiesdifferent from the "included ones"; More economic imbalances and concentration of the wealth: the rich ones are increasingly rich, the poor are increasingly poor; More labour flexibility, which istranslated in a worsening of the conditions of the workers; Hurts to the environment, on having been able to move them substances or harmful processes to other countries, where they cannot know reallytheir risks.
All in all, the benefits of the globalization almost always overcome to the prejudices, but there are prejudices and to offset them, suitable institutions are needed. When the companies ofthe foreign capital cause pollution in the developing countries, the solution is not the foreign investment prevents or to close these companies, but to design punctual solutions and especially toorganize the company, with departments, environmental procedure and a judicial effective device that imposes them.
