World’s Story
The story of Christmas stars with St. Nicholas he was born in 280 AD, in Patara, a cityof Lycia, in Asia Minor. St. Nicholas was a Christian priest, who later became a bishop. He was a very kind man and always helped the poor and the needy. He loved children greatly and gave gifts to them. He became the gift giver of Myra. He was a rich person, and traveled the country helping people, giving gifts of money and other presents. His gifts were given late at night, so that the giftgiver's identity would remain a secret.
Legends of the Christmas Tree
One is the story of Saint Boniface, an English monk who organized the Christian Church in France and Germany. One day, as he traveled about, he came upon a group of pagans gathered around a great oak tree about to sacrifice a child to the god Thor. To stop the sacrifice and save the child's life Boniface felled the tree with onemighty blow of his fist. In its place grew a small fir tree. The saint told the pagan worshipers that the tiny fir was the Tree of Life and stood the eternal life of Christ.limmering through the branches of the evergreen trees. So taken was he by this beautiful sight that he cut a small tree and took it home to his family. To recreate that same starlight beauty he saw in the wood, he placedcandles on all its branches.
The legend of Santa's reindeer was created in a famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore- "A visit from St. Nicholas", known better now as "The Night Before Christmas" . Santa is believed to have eight reindeers, who magically pull his sleigh through the sky. They are named Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen.

How is celebrate
Peoplecelebrate Christmas Day in many ways. In the days or even weeks before Christmas Day, many people decorate their homes and gardens with lights, Christmas trees and much more. It is common to organize a special meal, often consisting of turkey and a lot of other festive foods, for family or friends and exchange gifts with them. Children, in particular, often receive a lot of gifts from their parentsand other relatives and the mythical figure Santa Claus. This has led to Christmas Day becoming an increasingly commercialized holiday, with a lot of families spending a large part of their income on gifts and food.
Many Sunday schools, churches and communities organize special events. These can include decorating the neighborhood or a shopping mall, putting up a Christmas tree and planning aNativity display, concert or performance. A lot of plays and songs have a aspect of Christmas as a theme. Some groups arrange meals, shelter or charitable projects for people without a home or with very little money.

Reindeer Paper Bag Puppet
The paper bag puppets seem to be popular with both of my girls (Ages 3 and 6)! OPTION:  Instead of using the template antlers, cut handprintsfrom brown paper and use those!Materials: * paper bag,  * a printer,  * glue,  * scissors,  * something to colour with and  * a piece of paper (I prefer construction paper).  | |
* Print out the template of choice.
* Colour the pieces as appropriate and cut them out.  (cutting may require adult assistance and can be pre-done).
* See the picture abovefor how the puppet should look when complete.
* I'm going to walk through this slowly.  Look at your paper bag.
* It should be closed and flat like a piece of paper.  Just like when they are brand new.
* On one side, it's all smooth.  This will be the BACK of your puppet
* It's important that all the kids get the back and front straight...
