UNIT 9: DESCRIBING PEOPLE.

* We use adjectives to describe people, adjectives are words that describe a noun, and a noun is a Word to name things, people, animals, places, etc.

Ex: A tallwoman Tall is an adjective describing the noun woman.

* To make sentences to describe people we can use 2 different verbs; HAVE or BE.

HAVE

Eyes Hair Complexion Face(skin color)
I have blue eyes. She has long hair. They have pale skin. You have narrow face.

BE

Height Age Built LookLinda is pretty short. My parents are elderly. He is muscular. Your friend is handsome.

* We can also make questions to ask about someone’s appearance:

What does she / he look like?(general appearance) “She is tall and very good-looking”

How old is he / she? (age) “He is elderly” “She is around her thirties”

How tall is he / she? (height) “He is prettyshort”

How is his / her hair? “She has long straight hair”
How long is his / her hair? (hair) “He has short hair”
What color is his / her hair? “She has red hair”

Does he have abeard / mustache? Yes, he does / No, he doesn’t.
Does he / she wear glasses? (specific) Yes, she does / No, she wears contact lenses.
Does he / she have freckles?Yes, he does. / No she doesn’t.

* In the following situation, when we have a group of people, we use modifiers with Prepositions and Participles to describe someone we don’t know.

Which one isJosh? He is the one playing the guitar.

Who is Linda? She is the woman between Josh and Mark.

Which one is Ana? She is the pretty woman with a scarf. (Bufanda)

Who is Allan? Heis the tall one in jeans.

UNIT 10: PRESENT PERFECT V/S SIMPLE PAST.

* Present perfect

It has indefinite time. Time is not important, the action is important.
“I have gone to Perú”...
