1. INTRODUCCION:
The next step in the evolution to fourth generation networks and is known as 4G LTE (3GPP Long Term Evolution), and is the acronym of the project UTRA & UTRAN Long Term Evolution, sponsored by the 3rd Generation Partner Ship Project (3GPP) in late 2004 to work on the evolution of communication standard Third Generation WCDMA, which is the basis ofUMTS.

¿What is UMTS? Universal Mobile Telecommunications System is one of the thirdgeneration (3G) mobile telecommunications technologies. Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is the project name of a new, high performance air interface for mobile communications systems. Is considered by many to be the obvious successor to the current generation of UMTS 3G technologies, is an update to the UMTS technologythat will enable it to provide more advantages.

1.1 Why is introduce LTE technology?
The current third generation mobile networks are based on the UMTS standard. However, these networks still have some limitations: Insufficient support for packet domain services (Packet Switched). The voice, meanwhile, are managed by the domain of circuits (Circuit Switched), which makes the operation of the PSand CS domains is performed on different networks. This increases the cost of operation and maintenance. Low efficiency in the transmission routes of data. Inability to support multiple radio access systems.

The growing number of intelligent mobile telephone and the increase number of applications such email, games, movies and video downloads are generating strong
increases in datatraffic in different world markets. So, the capabilities of current 3G networks are not sufficient to meet future traffic demands. Then, in order to maintain the competitiveness of future networks, 3GPP has addressed the research on the evolution of 3G technology. In which are allowed to use more spectrum operadotes UMTS (up to 20 Mhz.) And improved data transfer speeds. The call E3G or 4-generationnetworks, refers to improvements made in the 3G system with the following characteristics: - The technology of the air interface is called LTE E3G or EPS (Enhanced Packet System).

-

The program for the development of the core of the network is called SAE, also known as Evolved Packet Core (EPC). Efforts were directed mainly to the convergence of different types of access networks, better useof radio resources and the network is based on IP (IP-Based). 1.2 Versions of LTE The are two versions of LTE: FFD-LTE and TD-LTE. • FFD_LTE uses the FDD paired spectrum with two separated channels, one for the uplink and one for the downlink, which is the type of spectrum most mobile operators have. TD-LTE uses TDD unpaired spectrum channels that combine uplink and downlink, and split resourceson the basis of real-time demand. Voice is inherently symmetric in the uplink and downlink so it is well suited for FDD spectrum allocations.

2. LTE OFFERS
Among the improvements the proposed standards are: - Interconnection with heterogeneous access networks. - The entire network is all IP provided. - Support of various types of terminals. - Services only through packet switching. -Significant increase in access speed. - Better use of spectrum for more efficient management of it, which would include the ability to offer unicast and broadcast services. - Separation of user plane and control plane through open interfaces. - LTE / SAE provides spectrum flexibility, reduced TCO and high performance mobile broadband networks. - Energy efficiencies of radio equipment which reduce...
