THE INCAS
The Incas, also called 'Children of the Sun', was originally a warrior society that lived in the region southwest of La Sierra. From 1100 to 1300 A.D. moved into the fertile valley ofCuzco, to the north, from where they were invading neighboring lands. Around 1500 had created an empire that incorporated most of the cultures of the area and whose limits ranged from the current southernColombia to central Chile which today is in addition to Bolivia and northern Argentina, the eastern boundary reached the Pacific Ocean.
The Incas occupied much of the South American Andes.The Incaswere located in what are now the countries of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and called the Tahuantinsuyo which means the four cardinal points, were organized in four provinces called Yours IChinchasuyo, Antisuyo, Collasuyo and Continsuyo.
THE AZTECS
Azteca or Mexica, a member of a people who dominated the central and southern Mexico today, in Mesoamerica, from the fourteenth to the sixteenthcentury and is famous for having established a highly organized vast empire was destroyed by the Spanish conquistadors and their allies tlaxcaltecas. The Aztecs are heirs of the cultural tradition ofthe Toltecs, who serve as a link between the Aztec and Mayan culture. The Aztecs, who called themselves "Mexica" came north and settled in Texcoco basin mid XII century and founded their capital,Tenochtitlan, in 1325. The word "Aztec" stems from a legendary northern land called "Aztlan". According to legend, the Aztecs left this mythical Aztlán, by order of the gods and were installed where couldfind a eagle devouring a snake.
