Marketing is the process of interesting potential customers and clients in your products and/or services. The key word in this marketing definition is "process"; marketinginvolves researching, promoting, selling, and distributing your products or services.
Services marketing relates to the marketing of services, as opposed to tangible products. A service is typicallydefined as follows:
 The use of it is inseparable from its purchase.
 It does not possess material form, and it cannot be touched, seen, heard, tasted, or smelled.
 The use of a service isinherently subjective, meaning that several persons experiencing a service would each experience it uniquely.

Factorsthat have driven the growth of services:

1. Change in family structures: Most working women and the smaller size of the houses has led to increased childcare, takeaway food, laundry services.

2.Changing expectations: The increase in expectations has led to higher demand for holidays and all forms of entertainment.

3. Increased leisure time: Over holiday periods and shorter working hourshave increased substantially the demand for travel, education, sports and leisure.

4. Increased number and complexity of products: This has meantime increase in specialist requirements for repair andmaintenance advice.

5. Unemployment levels: High levels of unemployment have resulted in continued growth in the number of self-employed, most of whom work in the service sector.
