Modelos de cognición social y adherencia terapéutica en
pacientes con cáncer

Abstract

Resumen

Due to the high levels ofuncertainty that they produce,
cancer treatments are definitely part of the toughest
interventions to carry on. Knowing the serious nature
of this condition is generally negative for the patient
withcancer and can affect the patientʼs willingness to
receive therapy. This is the reason why many patients
are not interested on following the therapiesʼ instructions and do not adhere to the treatments.This study shows all kind of factors that influence
the therapeutic adherence in patients with cancer and
illustrates an experiment made with two groups of
women who had this disease. The firstgroup was
made up of poor women who were treated in a public
hospital and the second one consisted on women
who received therapy in a private hospital. Even
though cancer is a very intimidatingdisease, not all
the patients mentioned following the instructions of
curative treatments.

Los tratamientos delcáncer están entre las terapias
más complicadas de llevar a cabo debido a los altos
niveles de incertidumbre que generan. La información que se tiene acerca de esta enfermedad, como
devastadora, hace quepara los pacientes la cura sea
algo casi inalcanzable y esto afecta la adherencia
a las terapias para lograrla. El presente estudio
muestra varios de los factores que intervienen en la
adherenciaterapéutica de estos pacientes y comparte
un experimento realizado con dos grupos de mujeres
adultas con cáncer.
El primer grupo estaba conformado por pacientes
de escasos recursos que recibíantratamiento en un
hospital público y el otro grupo constaba de pacientes que recibían su tratamiento en clínicas privadas.
