A brief History of the Statue of Liberty
The statue of lady standsagainst the dark shadows of the New York skyline. She grips a torch with one hand raised while she holds a book close to her breast with the other. Her face always gives an impression of hope. She looks towards the Atlantic Ocean as if she is waiting or looking out in eageress of something across the waters. This statue of the pale Lady is known as the famuos “Statue of Liberty”, it is a well-lo-vedicon of hpe and peace that France gave to American people as gift.

Reason to create the lady
A formidable friendship developed between France and the Unites States during the American Revolution. The struggle supported the Americans in their rule. This historical event admired the blishing a democratic government.
When nearly a hundred years pased, this deep admiration became a topic for asmall group of French intellectuals at a dinner party. This group was comprised of individuals opposed to the harsh regime of Napoleon III, and the party was hosted by Edouard Rene Lefebvre de Laboulaye, a well-know scholar, abolitionuist, jurist and leader of “liberals” dedicated to the establishement of French republican government.
The talk focused on the close relations between France and Americaand the voices of the guests expressed admiration sympathy. Laboulaye observed a “genuine flow of sympathy” between France and America, and called them, “the two sisters”. Looking forward to the celebration of America´s independece 11 years later, Laboulaye came up with a wonderful idea ti present the United Stares with a lasting memorial to this event.

Some facts about the Statue of LibertyThe Statue of Liberty was the first statue that visitors could climb with the help of a steel ladder to reach a balcony around the torch for a price of 50 cents.The head of the statue was made of copper. The foundation has 24000 tons of concrete, which was the largest single mass at that time. The height of the statue is 52 feet and 10 inches. The size of the bottom is 91 feet and the top is 65feet. The pedestal rises 89 feet above the foundation. President Calvin Coolidge declared the statue a national monument on 15th of Octuber, 1924. The National Park Service took the responsibility of its administration and maintenance in 1933.

Every culture has a different approach towwards behavior, respect, and discipline, including what is considered proper – and improper – at school. In Canada, your child will have to follow a set of rules tha all students, regardless of grade or age, expected to adhere to.
If your children do not abide by these basics, then they can expect to be disciplined for it, and the schoolwill contact you if it becomes a persistent problem. Breaking school rules repeatedly can lead to detention, suspension, and even expulsion. So make sure your children are clear on the following.

* Students must be on time and present for all their classes.
* Students will not speak in a disrespectful or insulting manner toward fellow students or teachers.
* Moking, drugs, drikingand violence are strictly prohibited on school grounds.
* Physical and sexul assault (this can include hitting, spitting, slapping, punching, groping, etc) will not be tolerated. The school reserves the right to call the police in these instances and your child could face criminal charges as a result.
* Students must not bring weapons or any illicit materials to school (knives, guns, etc)....
