AHORA VEREMOS EL LLAMADO “PRESENTE CONTINUO O PROGRESIVO” QUE SE UTILIZA PARAEXPRESAR ACCIONES QUE SE ESTAN REALIZANDO EN EL JUSTO MOMENTO EN EL QUE SE ESTA HABLANDO DE ESTA.
LA ESTRUCTURA DEL PRESENTE CONTINUO ES MUY SENCILLA:
SUJETO + VERBO TO BE (AM, ARE, IS) + VERBO CONTERMINACION –ING (GERUNDIO). EJEMPLO:

I am singing yo estoy cantando

we are singing nosotrosestamos cantando

EJEMPLOS DE LA ESTRUCTURA GRAMATICAL DEL PRESENTE CONTINUO AFIRMATIVO YNEGATIVO

PARA LA NEGACIÓN COMO LO HEMOS VISTO SE SITUA DESPUES DEL VERBO TO BE. LA ESTRUCTURA SERIA ASI:
SUJETO + VERBO TO BE (AM, ARE, IS) + NEGACIÓN (NOT) + VERBO CON TERMINACION –ING (GERUNDIO).EJEMPLO:
I AM NOT EATING AN APPLE
SHE IS NOT TAKING A SHOWER
THEY ARE NOT DOING EXERCISE.
A LOS VERBOS EN SU FORMA BASE, O SEA, EN PRESENTE SIMPLE, SE LE AGREGA LA TERMINACION –ING, PERO DEPENDE DELA TERMINACION DE DICHO VERBO EXISTEN MAS REGLAS ESTRUCTURALES. SE LE LLAMA CONSTRUCCION DEL GERUNDIO. POR EJEMPLO:
*Gerundio en verbos acabados en –ie
-Se sustituye la terminación "-ie" por "-ying".
