Technical English 2 Projects for 2nd Semester 2011General Instructions
The projects have to be done in groups of 6 students as a maximum and 3 minimum; any individual project won’t be graded. Deadline for written report is Thursday 12 for Section A and N (In the class), Friday 13 for section B, (Technical English Area, 2nd Floor, T-4 building, from 1 to 4 in the afternoon). The deadline for uploading the video presentation is for April 13th.Folder is not necessary for the presentation of the written report, but if you use it the colors required are: Section A Red Section B Blue Section N Yellow If you present your report without a folder, include a line of the color required for your section on top of the cover (carátula). Civil Engineering
SOIL TESTING
Description:  The students will choose a soil test that they will investigate to acknowledge the procedure, tools and purpose of it.  They will present their investigation through a videopresentation and a technical report. Procedure:  The students will propose which test they are going to investigate to the project.   The students will visit libraries and web sites to find all the information about the test they chose. The students will write a report that includes: o Index, o Introduction, o Objectives, o Investigation  Purpose of the test,  Procedure to follow,  Used tools, oConclusions, o Annexes and link of the video o Bibliography. They will upload a video to youtube, vimeo or other site for sharing videos.



Oral and written evaluation will be implemented by the teacher.

Chemical Engineering
CO2 Fire Extinguisher
Description:  The students will make a CO2 homemade extinguisher, which has to beinvestigated in books or web sites  They will present their investigation through a video presentation and a technical report. Procedure:  The students will visit libraries and web sites to find all the information about the experiment they have to do.  The students will write a report that includes: o Index, o Introduction, o Objectives, o Investigation  Materials required for the experiment Description of Chemical Properties of this materials  Scientific explanation of the reaction o Conclusions, o Annexes and link of the video o Bibliography. They will upload a video to youtube, vimeo or other site for sharing videos in order to demonstrate that they made the experiment, and it worked.



Oral and written evaluation will be implemented by the teacher.

Ecological Packaging
Description:  The students will promote a new brand type of ecological packaging, by design the packaging and promoting it through a marketing process.  They will present their product and marketing through a video presentation and a technical report.

Procedure:  The students will visitlibraries and web sites to find all the information about the experiment they have to do.  The students will write a report that includes: o Index, o Introduction, o Objectives, o Investigation  How to make a marketing for a product  Design of the packaging and name of it.  Needed materials  Marketing process (TV add, Radio Spot, Brochures and Posters, Acceptation Poll) o Conclusions, o Annexes...
