Literature.

Russian literature refers to both the literature of Russia and Russian literature written by members of other nations that became independent from the former Union of Soviet SocialistRepublics (USSR) or immigrants who were welcomed into it.
It is characterized by its strong depth with key figures in world literature as Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

FYODOR DOSTOYEVSKY.Fyodor Dostoevsky was born on November 11, 1821 in Moscow and died on February 9, 1881. Russian novelist, journalist, short-story writer, whose psychological penetration into the human soulprofoundly influenced the 20th century novel. They deal with moral and philosophical questions. He presented interacting characters with contrasting views or ideas about freedom of choice, Socialism, atheisms,good and evil, happiness and so forth.
His novels are “Crime and Punishment (1866), The Idiot (1869) and The Brothers Karamazov (1880)”.
LEO TOLSTOY (1828-1910)
Was born at Yasnaya Polyana, inTula Province, the fourth of five children and his parents died when he was a child, and he was brought up by relatives.
His two most famous works, the novels “War and Peace (1863-18699” and “AnnaKarenina (1877)”, are acknowledged as two of the greatest novels of all time and a pinnacle of realist fiction. Tolstoy is equally known for his complicated and paradoxical personality and for hisextreme moralistic and ascetic views, which he adopted after a moral crisis and spiritual awakening in the 1870s, after which he also became noted as a moral thinker and social reformer.
Culture (customs)Russian culture has a long history and tradition and Russians are very proud of it. During Soviet times there was a well developed system of community work and in every group (class at school,department at work etc) would be also a person responsible for sport, education, political information of the group etc.
