It is considered the most important musical event in Latin America.
Introduction

February is the month most anticipated of the year in Chile becauseit is the time where entertainment, music and glamorous gather in Viña del Mar City to enliven the music festival held annually in this month.

The festival is held during a week, people radiatejoy and Creole media are filled with anticipation, there are six nights of magic where the issue is only one: the Festival.
Located
The event is carried out in Viña del Mar City.
In “QuintaVergara” amphitheater, which holds over 15.000 spectators.
It is broadcasted throughout the country and to the rest of the world, as it is the most important event of the summer in Latin America and eventhough it is a competition of international and folkloric songs, the featured artists are the main attraction.

First Festival
It began in 1959, when a group of musicians were appointed to entertainthe students of the Bellas Artes School at the gardens of the “Quinta Vergara”. The audience was situated to the front of the stage in folding chairs and some adjacent mounds, as they enjoyed theunique spectacle gave the winner.
Improvements
Such success was the first version the following year (1960), built a modest outdoor amphitheater, whose wooden stage consisted of an "acoustic shell"which helped to project the sound to the public and protect the artist from the cold Viña nights and became an icon of the Festival.
