UNDERDEVELOPMENT
The term underdevelopment is controversial. The Spanish Royal Academy defines it as the backwardness of a country or region, which would not have achieved certain levels(economic, cultural) .1 On the first part of the definition, backwardness of a country or region consensus between experts and non-experts usually unanimous, discrepancies arise when trying to define the"bound" levels. A second approach would be: one of the stages that cross countries and societies in their progress, especially progress in the welfare state and economic capacity. But this idea of beinga "stage" in a longer process has many detractors who say that underdevelopment can not ever overcome by multiple factors.
Underdevelopment is also closely related to poverty, reaching asunderdeveloped countries include those where a certain percentage of its population living below the poverty level. This definition conflicts with the measurement problem first, How is the wealth of a people?At what point where a person is under the poverty level?, And on the other the question of whether underdevelopment is only an economic issue; reasons why both development indices have been changingand expanded over time, as discussed below.
UNDERDEVELOPMENT fundamental approach
The underdevelopment word often used very often to Third World countries, to the point of becoming almostsynonymous, underdeveloped countries are Third World countries, and vice versa. One of the few differences between the two is that the former do not usually employ the people they supposedly belong to him tobe, increasingly, a pejorative term, while the second is more accepted, despite having many detractors.
Generally the term refers to countries but also be used to designate certain areas or regionsand even ways of thinking or to survive, "underdeveloped mentality" that he hopes to solve their problems with foreign aid.
