Viaje Al Centro De La Tierra
EPISODE ONE: THE JOURNEY BEGINS.
Narrator: In 1863, in Hamburg, Germany.
Axel: “my name is Axel, and this is the story of an amazing adventure. I live with my uncle, Otto Lidenbrock, and his ward, my fiancé Gräuben. My uncle is a university professor, and I’m his assistant. He studies the different kinds of rocks the Earth is made of.”Narrator: one afternoon in May.
Lidenbrock: “Axel, look! I bought this book today. It´s seven hundred years old. It’s about the story of Iceland.”
Axel: “Uncle, a piece of paper is falling out!”
Lidenbrock: Hmm … It’s in an Old Icelandic language. Let’s translate it.”
Narrator: the professor translates the note.
Lidenbrock: “It’s written by an explorer, Arne Saknussemm. It says howto get to the center of the earth from a volcano in Iceland!”
Axel: “But that’s impossible!”
Lidenbrock: “Nothing is impossible, Axel: let’s pack. I want to leave as soon as possible.”
Axel: “Oh no! What about Gräuben?”
Narrator: Axel finds Gräuben and tells her the news.
Axel: “I don’t want to go to Iceland. I want to stay here and marry you.”
Gräuben: “You must go. It will bea great adventure! I wish I could go, too.”
Axel: (thinking) she is so brave!
Narrator: Two days later, the men are ready to go.
Axel: “Will this trip be dangerous, uncle?”
Lidenbrock: “I don’t know, Axel. We’ll just have to go and find out for ourselves.”
EPISODE TWO: THE VOLCANO
Narrator: Axel and his uncle set off on their journey. Three weeks later the men arrive in Reykjavikin Iceland.
Lidenbrock: “Hello, Mr. Fridrikssen, you got my letter then?”
Mr. Fridrikssen: “Yes, professor. Welcome to Iceland.”
Narrator: Mr. Fridrikssen introduces them to their guide.
Mr. Fridrikssen: “This is Hans – your guide.”
Lidenbrock: “Hello, Hans.”
Hans: “Pleased to meet you.”
Lidenbrock: “We must rest, Axel. Tomorrow we leave for the Snaefell volcano.”
Narrator:Early the next morning, they begin their journey
Lidenbrock: “How exciting, Axel. We’re off to the center of the Earth!”
Narrator: After a week of traveling …
Lidenbrock: “Look! That’s it! The Snaefell Volcano.”
Narrator: the men slowly climb to the top of the volcano. At the top Axel is nervous.
Axel: “What if the volcano erupts?”
Lidenbrock:”Don’t worry, Axel. It hasn’t eruptedin hundreds of years.”
Narrator: The crater of the volcano is deep and dark.
Axel: “I’m afraid of heights!”
Narrator: The men begin to climb down.
Axel: “How am I ever going to make it to the bottom?”
Lidenbrock: “Don’t look down, Axel.”
EPISODE THREE: A TERRIFYING CLIMB
Narrator: The professor, Axel and Hans climb down in to the crater of the volcano.
Axel: “We’ve beenclimbing down for hours. We’ve never going to reach the bottom!”
Lidenbrock:”Stay calm, Axel.”
Axel: “I can’t hold on any longer!”
Lidenbrock: “Yes, you can. Just a bit more!”
Hans: We’re almost there, Axel.”
Narrator: The climb down is long and difficult.
Hans: “Stop! We are at the bottom.”
Axel: “Finally!”
Narrator: At the bottom of the crater, the men find there largeshafts.
Lidenbrock: “Which one did Saknussemm use?”
Axel: “We don’t even know if we’re in the right place.”
Lidenbrock: “Yes, we do! Look! Here are Saknussemm’s initials on this rock. He said to use the one the sun shines on at the end of June.”
Axel: “Today is 25th! We’re running out of time.”
Lidenbrock: “And today is cloudy. Let’s hope it’s sunny tomorrow!”
Narrator: luckily, thenext day the sun comes out and shines down on one of the shafts.
Lidenbrock: “”Wonderful! Now we know which one to use.”
EPISODE FOUR: INSIDE THE VOLCANO
Narrator: The sun shines on the shaft that Arne Saknussemm used. The men climb down the long shaft.
Axel: “Look! A cave! We’ve reached the bottom!”
Narrator: They enter a long tunnel.
Axel: “Look at these walls!”
