Homeschooling is the social phenomenon in which parents take a more active approach to their children's education.There are families that set up miniature schoolrooms at home and those who never do any formal written work at all, and everything in between.

While theterm "homeschooling" is broad, the U.S. Department of Education (in a 2003 study) defines students as homeschooled if "their parents reported them being schooled at home instead of a public or privateschool, their enrollment in a public or private school did not exceed 25 hours a week if they were being homeschooled part-time, and they were not being homeschooled solely because of a temporaryillness."
