The twentieth century began differently in each world region.
On one side is Europe that in recent years had ruled the world political and economic order.
In North America the United Stateswere consolidated during the nineteenth century as a new power with which Europe would have to count on.
By contrast, the southern part of America had fallen markedly behind in its social andpolitical development of their young most nations were involved in civil wars with their neighbors and even some still struggling for their independence.
In Asia the situation was equally dissimilar. Japanwent from being a medieval character as Western conventions to become the dominant power in the east of the continent; surpassing even the ancient Chinese empire had fallen for his part in anunstoppable decline during the previous century.
Africa, who had escaped European colonialism that developed from the fifteenth century, was almost completely colonized during the last decades of thenineteenth century. The territories that remained free were Libya, for being a desert with no colonial interest; Liberia, a nation that was created by the United States to deport their former slaves, andthe Ethiopian Empire, only able to resist the invaders.
In Oceania arose a new territory for European colonization that looked particularly favored by the low percentage of indigenous population.The twentieth century began amidst great technological advances, including the car prominently.Russian Revolution
