1984 is the anti-utopia or dystopia more famous of all those were written during the first half of the century. In her, Orwell presents a future in which a totalitariandictatorship interferes up to such a point in the life deprived of the citizens that turns out to be impossible to escape to her control. The odyssey of Winston Smith in a London dominated by the GreatBrother and the only party can be interpreted as a critique of all dictatorship, though in the analogies with the Stalinist communism they turn out to be evident, given the vital path of the author. Thenovel receives new force in the current society, in which the control for the citizens, coercive or not, is more perfected that in no other moment of the history of the Humanity. Finally, we will seethe influence of the work in the culture of the century, both in her literary slope and in the cinematographic one.

I am Winston Smith, I am a minor member of the ruling party, I have 39 years old,I am frail, contemplative, intellectual and a fatalistic man. In my opinion the dictatorial control and enforced repression are the worst characteristics of my government, I may considered that I havea personal intellectual ability to reason about why I opposed to my government and what are the main causes of my resistance. I may said that the effort that I put into my attempt to achieve freedom and independence, by the end of the story my rebellion was revealed as playing into O’Brien campaign ofphysical and psychological torture, transforming me, Winston Smith, into a loyal subject of Big Brother.
