Kofi was born in Lome. And he was born in 1972.
2. Why were Nani’s students so well-behaved?
Any student who did something wrong in Nani’s class was beaten with cane severely.

(a) What did Kofi tell his father?
Kofi told his father that hesent the fish to grandmother’s house.
(b) Why did his father not learn the truth?
Kofi’s grandfather always caught a lot of fish, and then his grandmother always gave some of his grandfather’s fish to each of her sons. So Kofi’s grandmother gave his father a large tray of fish. Kofi’s father thought the fish he had given Kofi were on the tray.
(c) How was the truth discovered?
Kofi’sgrandfather did not catch any fish because of the broken net. His father did not get any fish, and then the truth was discovered.

3. But we were not like a European family. What was the difference?
African family was much bigger than European’s. There were five members in Kofi’s family, and there were another three girls and two boys lived with them in the house. The boys and girls were taken intoother people’s houses to be trained.

2. Why were they all unhappy when they were told that they were going to Ho?
They did not want to leave their friends. They did not want to leave the sea and the beach. And they don’t know what they would eat without fish.

Some of theparents did not have enough money to buy all the books; Many parents were not able to pay the fees for a year, they paid each month; Some parents asked for more time to pay; And some students were sent home again because they were not properly dressed.

Kofi’s parents were sure that a witch was making him sick.

1. Why did Kofi’s father decide that Kofi needed to be taught a hard lesson?
Kofi’s father saw that Kofi had changed. He thought Kofi has been behavingbadly since he was ill. He saw everything. He decided that Kofi must be taught a hard lesson.
5. How did Kofi’s father punish Kofi severely?
He tied Kofi’s hands with rope and carried Kofi to the bedroom door. He tied the rope to the top of the door and Kofi was left hanging by hands. Then he beat Kofi with cane.

3. Describe how the witch-doctors found the witch.
Three women were brought infront of the witch-doctor. Three chickens were brought to the witch-doctor. The witch-doctor cut the chicken’s throat. The chicken ran around and around. Then it fell on its back and died. When the chicken had died lying on its back, it means the woman was not a witch. The first and second woman was not a witch. Until the witch-doctor ready to cut the third chicken’s throat, the third woman fellto the ground. She lay on the ground turning and twisting and making strange noises. So he found that the third woman was a witch.

2. My master lived in Keta.
(a) Explain why Kofi had to go and live with a master.
Kofi was twelve now. He was growing up. He had many brothers and sisters. It was time for him to leave his father’s house and go and live with a master to be trained.
(b)Describe Kofi’s journey from Arbor to Keta.
Kofi’s father sent a young man with Kofi to make sure Kofi got to Keta safely. First, they had to walk five miles through thick woods. After five miles, they came to a place called Anyako. Anyako was beside a wide lagoon. They had to get cross the lagoon by boat. They paid the boatman a few pence to carry them and their box across the lagoon. When they got...
