AGES PROJECT: Part I

My family history is very interesting because throughout the years, several events have changed the dynamics of the family. Even though we are very close right now, it has not always been the case. I come from an extremely big family, from both my mother and father’s side. At the same time, I havealways been closer to my father’s side of the family for geographical reasons. My father’s side of the family even though is gigantic is very close, loud and happy. They would find the worst excuses to make a party out of everyday, and love, passion, and sharing have been some of the values I have learned from them. I have to mention that my father has been a key factor in the success of a vastnumber of people on the family. He is the most caring and noble person I have ever met. He helps everybody that he can, those who deserve it and others that not so much in my opinion. For this project I interviewed my parents, my grandparents from my mother’s side, my grandmother from my father’s side, three of my aunts and my uncles from my father’s side.
My grandfather from my father’sside did not have any family. It was just his mother and himself since his father never recognized him as his son. Yet, my grandfather even though I did not get the chance to meet him because he died from cancer when I was only 15 days raced his family with love and with the values that father never taught him as a child. He went to the navy and had a successful career there. My grandfather and mygrandmother had 5 children and a good life until he passed away. When he died it was difficult for everyone because he left young kids. However, my dad always wanted to follow his footsteps and he felt the responsibility to take care of the entire family even though he is not the oldest brother. From that moment on, my father has helped every single member of the family and that is the reason why Iam including the huge genogram with all the people that do not work on the family business; he became more motivated to succeed because he felt the burden to provide for his family. Doing this project gave me the chance to find out about all the things he has done for the family and I am very surprised and proud of him. He has done things like buying houses and cars for family members and theyhave been paying them slowly as they progress economically, and some have not. He has given them money in times of need without expecting to receive it back, and the list continues. He has even helped my mother’s side of the family as much as he has helped his own family. He once told me that he has lost as much money as he has received in his life, and now I understand that he was not only talkingabout business, but also about all the help he has provided for family members.

There are only two people involved in my family business apart from my father. My father, Boris Duran, is the CEO, manager, advisor and supervisor all of the companies. He is in charge of the entire portfolio and provides direct advise for the straighter and the operational manager and is in charge of theoverall operations, finance, planning and execution of expansionary plans. My aunt, Bella Duran, is the administrator of the companies. She is in charge of the performance or management of administrative business operations. She manages the cash flow, accounting and financing of the smaller companies. Finally, is my cousin, Bogart Duran, he is the Operational Manager of two of the companies. He is incharge of the operational department, and provides advice and supervision to different employees and several of the projects.
