SOMEONE THE WORLD WILL NEVER KNOW

According to the Royal Spanish Academy, abortion may be defined as the interruption of a pregnancy due to natural or deliberately induced causes. In manycountries, such as Argentina and Chile, abortion is considered a crime; while in some other countries, such as Canada, Cuba and the United States, it is completely legalized. It is estimated that inArgentina 500,000 women undergo abortions each year to dispose of unwanted pregnancies, which is the 40% of all pregnancies. Abortion, however, may have negative effects that could put women at risk.We have to bear in mind that the right to a life is included into the Argentinean unenumerated rights. From a biological point of view, the fetus is considered a person since the very beginning,since its conception. If this statement is true, the fetus, from the day of its conception is considered a baby and, thus, he has rights as any other person, between them the right to live. Basingourselves in this, we may observe that a murder is committed when a woman decides to have an abortion. The mother is deciding over someone else’s life. According to our constitution, no one can removeus our rights, and that is what women do to their babies rights when they do an abortion.

Regarding women, abortion does not only end with the baby’s life, it also has negative effects inmothers themselves. When a woman has an abortion this may develop an emotional trauma period known as post abortion syndrome. This syndrome is also characterized as a time of constant stress for women. Itcan affect not only women’s fertility, but also their relationships with their families and friends. It is stated that around 80,000 patients are hospitalized per year due to post abortioncomplications. Abortion may cause negative physical effects as well, such as convulsions, cervical injury, excessive bleeding, infection, ripping or perforation of the uterus and hemorrhage. It can also make...
