Abstract
Since its beginning, air transport has had a quickly development by the effects of environment issues, the demand as a means of transport, and the advance of technology. Nowadays, it is the dominant mode of transport. Airplanes have performed the task of connecting the world, helping on the progress of nations and as usefulweapons in wars. An aircraft completes these objectives needs faster, reliable and powerful engines. This research paper is based in history, type and definitions, and future of aircrafts engines. The objective is to know the history to understand the present in order to prepare for the future considering the past and new factors that are affecting in aircrafts and their engines.
Introduction
Sinceancient times, human beings have had to travel short and long distances to satisfy their needs and their first conveyance was animals, such as horses and donkeys. Transportation took the first weak steps that would soon change the world forever. With the invention of internal combustion engine in the late of 19th century, new possibilities became available. Once it existed, steam driven trainswere the primary means of long distances overland transport for men. The rail network started to link towns and allowed those who could pay for it to ride across the country in less than a week. After invention of the motorcycled and automobiles, animals were replaced.
Transportation changed even more dramatically for a new invention; the airplane. Aircrafts broke the barriers of time and distanceand soon air travel was common in the world. The airplanes were rapidly developed as weapon of war. The shadows of the wars influenced to create news designs of airplanes and improve or replace their engines. By the Golden Age, which was in the 1920s and 1930s, large and efficient jet powered aircraft were a reality and air travel was ordinary and affordable. Today, more than hundreds of yearsafter the Wright brothers took to the air in the first power and controlled flying machine, the economic, political, and social world are different. Aircrafts are important tool for the improvement of the human condition and powerful instrument to positive changes. It is impossible to imagine the world without it.
Without an engine, an aircraft would be another useless thing; so engines are thehearts of aircrafts. It means the essential part. In the beginning of the 1900s, humans used the design of automobiles and motorcycles to create the first aircraft engine. By the influence of many factors in the world, engines have evolved continuously. Some engines were abandoned for they did not complete the requirements by a new type of engine. Nowadays, by the advanced of the technology, thereare more powerful and safety engines that the first aviators could not imagine before.
The future of the aircrafts and their engines is indefinite because there are many factors that are forcing to continuous development and improvement. One reason is the increase of the demand of the population as a fastest conveyance. Nowadays, the impact in world of global climate issues is another remarkablefactor. The effect of this cause is bringing along to a single path; engines free of populations. Since its beginning, aircrafts have been seen as other powerful weapons of wars and it is going to remain in the future. The principal change of their future is the continuous studies, experiments, and the advanced of technology. These factors are playing an important role and their effects will bereflected in the next years on aircrafts engines.
History
Since ancient time, men have dreamed of flying. Myth and folklore were rich in stories of flying machines that could carry a man. The most famous of these ancient stories is about the craftsman Daedalus who made wings of feathers and wax so he could escape from his imprisonment on an island. Men of ancient times thought the only way a man...
