The attacks of September 11, 2001 (commonly referred to numerónimo 11-S in Spain and LatinAmerica, 9/11 in the English-speaking world) were a series of terrorist attacks that day committed suicide in the United States by members of the jihadist network Al Qaeda by hijacking airliners to behit several targets and that killed about 3,000 people and wounding 6,000, and the destruction of the environment of the World Trade Center in New York and serious damage to the Pentagon , in the Stateof Virginia, being the episode that preceded the war in Afghanistan and the adoption by the U.S. government and its allies in the policy called War on Terror.
The attacks were committed by nineteenmembers of the Al-Qaeda jihadist network, one divided into four groups of hijackers, each with a terrorist pilot in charge of flying the plane once reduced and the cabin crew. The planes of AmericanAirlines Flight 11 and United Airlines 175, were the first to be kidnapped, both crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, the north tower first and then the second against South shortlyafter, causing both skyscrapers to collapse in the next two hours.
After the third hijacked plane belonged to American Airlines Flight 77 and was used to being hit against one of the walls of thePentagon in Virginia. After the fourth plane, belonging to United Airlines Flight 93, did not reach any goal to be crashed in an open field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after losing control in thecabin as a result of the confrontation of the passengers and crew with the terrorist commando.
