ANCIENT EGYPT

In the middle of thedesert, the most splendid civilization in history was born. It survived for 30 centuries, and it left us with writers, calendars, medicine and beautiful architecture. It also gave us mummies,pyramids and gods, among other things.
This immense legacy amazes modern civilization; the Pharaohs Tutankhamen and Ramses capture the largest number of visitors to the great exhibitions organized inFrance during the past 25 years, well above Picasso and Dali, and many more than impressionists like Renoir, Manet, and Gauguin all together.
The Egyptians were a culture that not onlyflourished intellectually, but they were also ahead of many things that we know now such as cultivation, astronomy, and others.
 As a conservative culture, the Egyptians were in general relativelybehind in religion; besides the fact of accepting divinities of other races whom they had amicable and hostiles relationships, they kept with care the many different kinds of religions of the country.Many thought that the Egyptians were originally from a religion called Punt, which was placed somewhere on the coast of Somalia.  These very old Punists converted to the indigenes of the Nile, andwere submitted by northern invaders; the bearers of a higher civilization that produced the birth of new dynasties.

Throughout the length of the river is based the posterior subdivision ofthe country in Upper Egypt (Tebaida), Middle Egypt (Heptanomida) and Lower Egypt (Delta). This division derives the three great historic periods. Memfita, Tebano and Saita. They had thirty threedynasties of pharaohs between them.

Without the Nile, the entire Egyptian territory would be an arid and uncultivated desert.
