I will talk about the economics issues of the olympic games in london.
The Summer Olympics of 2012 were held from July 27 to August 12, 2012 in London. London is the first city to host the modernOlympic Games three times after those of 1908 and 1948.The city of London was elected as one of five candidate cities during the 117th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on July 6,2005 in Singapore.
the international symbolism of london 2012 games is important. the ambition of the british government is, according to the foreign and common-wealth office (fco), for the event toproject an image of a Modern Britain open, ( welcoming, diverse, tolerant), connected, ( politically, geographically in terms of trade and travel), creative and dynamic.
the creation of theOlympic Games is motivated by a political issue because every nation wants to show an image but also pacify international relations through sport. but the main reason that motivates the Great britain isabove all an economic issue. We will also see if other countries because the Olympic Games are not often a boon for all countries.
A/ the cost of the olympic games
the organization of the OlympicGames has cost 13 billion euros, while London has planned to invest 4.5 billion euros in 2005. So games have costed three times more expensive than expected. Prime Minister David Cameron wanted toshow "the best of Britain" and so did not include the establishment of the Olympic Games in the austerity plan. That is why, it has increased the budget games. For this, the government has built anOlympic stadium with an Olympic pool, a basketball court and handball for the sum of 1.2 billion euro.
7 billion euros have been invested in the Olympic Village. The construction was given to a cartel,including the emirate of Qatar.
98 million euros have been invested in the opening ceremony and closing
