Every college student knows that, when writing an academic paper the student has to know what is citation andreference is. Citation is an acknowledgment, it signals the location of a source, and it reveals that you´re indebted to that sourced. The student has to know what and how to use and citation andreferences and the reasons why the citation and the reference are too important in an academic writing, also the consequences of the incorrect use, and some benefits when using these.
By citing the wordif a particular scholar you´re acknowledging and respecting the intellectual property rights of that author. There are three reason why the citation is very important, citing sources is importantbecause the currency of academia is ideas, in order for the academia to accumulate that currency, they want to get credit for their contributions. For example (When a writer cites ideas, honors theauthor who initiated the ideas. The second reason is keeping track of the sources, is important because if you use someone else’s ideas or words without giving it credit, you are violating the author’sconcepts or ideas. And the third one is keeping track of the sources, is important because academics value being able to trace the way ideas develop.
The reference is vital to attribute sources, so thatyou will be not accused of plagiarism, and if you don´t reference correctly, you could be accused of intellectual thief, and you will be penalized if you do not reference properly. but there´s a...
