Aristides Bastidas was a journalist, educator and popularizer of science Venezuela.Born in San Pablo, Yaracuycurrent state, in Venezuela on March 12, 1924 and died in Caracas on September 23, 1992.

Bornin San Pablo, Yaracuy State, Venezuela on March 2, 1924. Son of Nemesio Castorila Bastidas and Gamez. He moved to Caracas with his family in 1936, settling in a modest neighborhood in the south ofthe capital. He studied first year high school graduation in Fermín Toro, studies that did not end because the family economic pressure forced him to perform various jobs until 1945, when started injournalism. As a unionist trade unionist and was part of the resistance against the regime of Marcos Perez Jimenez (1948-1958).
Self-taught science journalism pioneered the modern informative,interpretive and opinion in print and radio genre. From 1968 to 1981 he directed the science page of Sunday newspaper "El Nacional" which from 1971 until his death he wrote the daily column "ScienceAmena." Saw the popularization of science as a tool to achieve technological self-determination and culture of the countries. He co-founded the Iberoamerican Association of Science Journalists in Venezuela in1974.
He died in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, on September 23, 1992.
