Chlamydia
The transmission of Chlamydia occurs during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Transmission can also occur from an infected mother to her baby during vaginal childbirth. Any sexually activeperson can be infected with chlamydia. The greater the number of sex partners, the greater the risk of infection. Chlamydia is easily confused with gonorrhea, another sexually transmitted disease.Gonorrhea and chlamydia have similar symptoms and can have similar complications if not treated, but the two STDs have different treatments.

Chlamydia is usually treated with antibiotics and are veryeffective. The two most commonly prescribed antibiotics to treat chlamydia are: azithromycin ,doxycycline. People should not have sex for at least one week after you have finished your antibiotictreatment. You may need to avoid having sex for longer if your sexual partner has not been treated so that you do not become re-infected. You should also avoid having sex until your symptoms have gone.Untreated Chlamydia infection can lead to very serious consequences for women and men. They can become infertile, meaning. They can’t have kids. Women are more likely to be affected. If a woman or man hasa Chlamydia infection, chances are they won’t know about it, because it is often asymptomatic.

Infertility in women
In women, serious problems can arise if the bacteria travel from the cervix intothe uterus and Fallopian tubes making them infected and inflamed. The danger of getting an infection here is that scarring can occur in the Fallopian tubes and cause blockage. Eggs released from theovaries can’t travel down the Fallopian tubes and reach sperm so conception can’t occur and a baby can’t be made. Chlamydia infection in the Fallopian tubes is a common cause of infertility in women.Ectopic pregnancy
