condicionales

Se forma con if + simple present + simple future. Se emplea cuando una situación es real o posible: If it rains today, I'll stay at home. Aquí tienes algunos ejemplos traducidos.

Primera condicional


"If he catches a fish, he will be very happy."
("Si pesca un pez estará muy feliz.")

Usamos la primera condicional cuando estamos hablando de eventosa futuro que son posibles.


Estructura:

If + Simple Present (Presente simple), + Will 

O

Will + If + Presente simple


Ejemplos:

Lisa will be very happy if she wins the prize.
(Lisa estará muy contenta si gana el premio.) 
If it rains, then we will stay at home.
(Si llueve nos quedaremos en casa.) 
You will always be able to take another test if you fail.
(Siempre podráspresentar otro examen si no pasas.) 
If I see Sam, I will ask him to give you a call. 
(Si veo a Sam le pediré que te llame.)

Nota: 
Puedes usar estos verbos modales en vez de will: 
shall, can, may.


Ejemplos:

If you fail, you can always try again.
(Si no pasas siempre puedes intentar de nuevo.)
If you finish everything on time, you may go home earlier. 
(Si terminas todo a tiempopodrás irte a casa más temprano.)
We shall meet on Sunday, if it's alright with you. 
(Nos reuniremos el domingo si te parece bien.)

Segunda condicional


"If I met a genie, I would ask for infinite wealth..."
("Si conociera un genio le pediría riqueza infinita...")
Usamos la segunda condicional cuando hablamos de eventos a futuro que no son probables.Estructura:
If + Simple Past (Pasado simple), + Would + Forma básica

O

Would + Forma básica + If + Pasado simple


Ejemplos:

If I won a million dollars, I would travel around the world.
(Si ganara un millón de dólares viajaría por el mundo.) 

(Hay una pequeña posibilidad de que realmente ganaría.)
If I met him again, I would tell him the truth.
(Si lo volviera a ver le contaría laverdad.)

(Hay una pequeña posibilidad de que realmente volvería a verlo.)
She would quit school if her parents agreed.
(Dejaría la escuela si sus padres la dejaran.) 

(No es probable que sus padres estén de acuerdo.)
I would be surprised if I saw pigs in the sky.
(Estaría sorprendido si viera cerdos volando.) 

(Es muy poco probable que yo vea cerdos en el cielo.)
