CHAPTER V
MY EXPECTATIONS AS A TEACHER
After I had this unforgettable experience as an English teacher with teenagers, I now can say that to be a teacher is not an easy job. Teachers need to find the best way to teach at any particular level and adapt to his students so that there can be a good atmosphere in the language classroom.
In my own experience, I had not worked with teenagers. However I think I did my best in order to help my students develop their communicative competences (oral participation in thiswork). It was not easy at the beginning of my course because my students did not want to participate or talk in English. But as time went by, I learned to be more tolerant and patient with them. I also changed my character because if I wanted their participation I needed to make some changes in my lesson plans, so that my students could see those changes and they could feel confident with me and withmy class.
After doing my social service, I noticed some things that I would like to do in my future teaching which are: motivate the students to continue studying, to develop their communicative competence; and to observe non-verbal communication in my students. Because I noticed that students behave in different ways when they want to say something or want some help.
My role will be as amonitor, facilitator, and tutor since I give the confidence to my students to talk to me. And at the same time I will give them every opportunity to make their learning process more enjoyable and interesting. I would also consider gestures and mime during my speaking so that students can guess what I am talking about.
During my teaching process I would like to develop the best conditions in thelanguage classroom in order to make the classes interesting and fun day after day. One of the very helpful activities I would like to employ more is role play. It allows the students to use conversations in real-life situations and it also gives the students confident to speak English.
“El lenguaje es un objeto complejo a través del cual un individuo comprende el mundo y se integra a la sociedad”(SEP, p. 109, 2006 ) .
When I want the students’ participation so that they can practice their speaking skills I will use some communicative activities, current topics according to student interest; so they can understand easier, then they can give their personal point of view about the topic.

Now I understand that if I use the elements beforementioned, I can give the students more confidence to practice their speaking, writing, listening and reading in any language classroom. Those elements also provide the students the with security to do whatever they wish if they really want to do it.

CHAPTER VI
CONCLUSION
The process of becoming an English teacher requires very hard work day after day. It allowed me to understand theteaching-learning process. After all my experiences as a teacher, I can say that motivation is a very important aspect if we as teachers want the student’s participation in the language classroom. Because it enables the students to develop their competencies and abilities as they would do in real life.
Even if the student does not have high self-esteem his security will be low, and that causes him not to...
