RESUMEN
En este trabajo se presenta una alternativa para el tratamiento de aguas residuales en la Ciudad Universitaria de la UNMSM con
el uso de humedales artificiales.
Muchos «sistemas naturales» están siendo considerados con el propósito del tratamiento del agua residual y control de la contaminación del agua. El interés en los sistemas naturales está basado en laconservación de los recursos asociados con estos sistemas
como opuesto al proceso de tratamiento convencional de aguas residuales que es intensivo respecto al uso de energía y químicos.
Los wetlands son uno de los muchos tipos de sistemas naturales que pueden usarse para el tratamiento y control de la contaminación.
Según U.S. EPA (1983), «Un wetland se construye específicamente con el propósito decontrolar la contaminación y manejar los
residuos, en un lugar donde existe un wetland natural.
La forma en que estos humedales trabajan tiene similitud con los procesos biológicos que se dan en la naturaleza y en los filtros por
goteo utilizados en las plantas de tratamiento convencionales (Wolverton, 1988).
Los objetivos de este trabajo son: Diseñar un sistema de humedales artificiales tiposistema de agua superficial libre (SASL) para
el tratamiento de aguas residuales en la Ciudad Universitaria de la UNMSM y describir la formulación matemática de los procesos
biológicos en el humedal artificial. Los humedales estarían recibiendo las aguas residuales provenientes de la red de alcantarillado
de la Ciudad Universitaria.

ABSTRACT
In this work an alternative is presented for the wastewater treatment in the University City of the UNMSM with the use of wetlands.
Many «natural systems» they are being considered with the purpose of the wastewater treatment and control of the contamination of
the water. The interest in the natural systems this based on the conservation ofthe resources associated with these systems like
opposed to the process of conventional for wastewater treatment that is intensive regarding the energy use and chemical. The
wetlands are one of the many types of natural systems that can be used for the treatment and control of the contamination. According
to U.S. EPA (1983). «A wetland is built specifically with the purpose of to control thecontamination and to manage the waste, in a
place where a natural wetland exists.
The form in that these wetlands works has similarity with the biological processes that are given in the nature and in the filters for leak
used in the conventional treatment plants (Wolverton, 1988).
The objectives of this work are: to design a system of wetlands type system of free superficial water (SFSW) for thewastewater
treatment in the University City of the UNMSM and to describe the mathematical formulation of the biological processes in the
wetlands. The wetlands would be receiving the residual waters coming from the net of sewer system of the University City.
