Drunk driving is a big problem in the United States. A lot of fatalities happen because of drunk driving. Drunk driving is not safe both for drivers and pedestrians, but a lot ofpeople are still doing it and they are not getting caught. If we want our country to be a better place then we have to put a stop to this and we have to do it fast. Drunk driving should be eliminatedin the United States.
Drunk driving is a serious issue here in California and also in other states. According to Alcohol Alert, in 2006, there were 13,470 fatalities in crashes involving analcohol-impaired driver. Most of these fatalities, in a way, could have been reduced. In 1996 there were 13,451 alcohol-impaired fatalities reported. That number was really close to the number offatalities in 2006. There really has not been any change in 10 and we need to find a way to end this.
In California, in 2005, there were 4,229 fatalities reported. This is one of the highest number inall the states. This is not good because this number keeps increasing then the roads will not be safe for anyone. Although this number is high, the number in which alcohol-impaired drivers wereinvolved is 1,509 which isn’t really that bad. If we find more ways to encourage drivers to stop drinking and driving , then these number could go down in a few years.
Now a lot of people would saythat drunk driving is not a problem because it doesn’t affect me. If all those people think that, then they are wrong because drunk driving doesn’t have to affect you in order for you to disagree. Drunkdriving affects everyone on the road and if you say that it doesn’t affect you then you should really think about everyone that has gotten killed by drunk driving. A lot of people would want to put astop to drunk driving, but there are people that just don’t want to.
