.
Origin and significado:

Easter is the Christian celebration that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The date of celebration varies from 22 March to 25 April, as it takes placethe Sunday following the first full moon of spring in the northern hemisphere. There is a formula that allows calculation of the date of Easter, a calculation originally performed by the Church of Alexandria and was later adopted throughout Europe. However, because the dispute arose centuries after calendar used by the Catholic Church (Gregorian calendar) and the Eastern Churches (Juliancalendar), the date of Easter varies for each church, and only rarely achieved coincide exactly as shown in the table.

The first Christians were Jews celebrated Easter at the same chronological Passover. But since the First Council of Nicea (in 325) separated Christians the celebration of the Christian Passover, Jews removing elements. But they left the mobile nature of the party noting that Christ wasresurrected on Passover. Today the Catholic Church maintains the mobile nature of the date of Easter.

This party determines the mobile calendar of other parties: and the Ascension (Jesus' ascent to heaven) is celebrated 40 days after Easter, and Pentecost 10 days after the Ascension. The week before Easter is Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday (which commemorates Jesus' triumphal entryinto Jerusalem). The Octave of Easter (popularly known as "Easter week") is the week that happens to Easter Sunday (or Sunday). Eastertide or Easter time means, in the Catholic liturgy, the weeks from Easter Sunday until Pentecost.

The term "Passover" refers primarily to the feast of the Resurrection, which is also sometimes called "Easter", but is also used to refer to three other Christiancelebrations: Christmas (25 December), Epiphany or Adoration the Kings (January 6) and Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit (fifty days after Easter). [6] In Chile, the term applied colloquially Easter to Christmas, while Easter is called "Easter Easter. "

The Jewish Passover:

Judía.Los Pesach feast commemorating the Jews celebrate Passover (Pesach), to commemorate his escape fromcaptivity at the hands of the Egyptians (approximately in 1250 BC.).

The Jewish Pesach originates from the story told in the Bible where God killed all the firstborn of the Egyptians. This was the last of the plagues sent by God against Pharaoh of Egypt and its people by refusing to release the children of Israel. God commanded Moses leading the Hebrews, the following:

Choose a lamb [...], hisblood will spread the poles and the tops of their doors. I eat roast whole, with its head and belly, with unleavened bread. [...] I'll go about Egypt and killed all the firstborn of the Egyptians and their animals. [...] When he saw the lamb's blood will pass over your homes.

Exodus 12, 5-14
The Jewish sages are welcome faithfully as required by the Torah. Unleavened bread (matzah) recalledthe hasty exit that did not have time to ferment bread (18 minutes). This must be done within 7 days of Easter.

Symbols of Easter

Part of the symbolism of this feast was the rabbit, adopted as a symbol of fertility, which even today is still used in the decorations of this celebration. This element of the Western European tradition was never accepted by Orthodox Christians, which indicatesthat it is truly an icon outside the religious Easter.

The eggs colored like rays of sun are brought by the Easter Bunny, also as a symbol of fertility and life reborn. Children from around the world, color and hide Easter eggs. However, this game was not adopted by traditionally Christian countries, another test of pagan origin of these symbols.
