D.O.C. RIOJA ORGANIC WINES
The bodega Biurko Gorri is the result of the effort and work by a family deeply-rooted in the art of wine-making. They have achieved all this through direct control overthe whole wine-making process and by using the most advanced technology.
All the vineyards are cultivated through organic methods.
Biurko Gorri is a family bodega with one aim: they use theirwine-making tradition and great care of their vineyards along with modern technology in its winery so that producing and ageing high quality wines.
The bodega belongs to the Llorens family who also own 45hectares of vineyards in the villages of Labraza, Viana and Bargota. These vineyards contain a high percentage of old vines native to the area. Limited production ensures grapes with high tartaric acidcontent, great colour intensity and potent yet fruity tannins. To sum up: these grapes are perfectly suited to the production of fine wines that age extremely well.
The bodega is to be found in asmall village called Bargota, about 18 kilometres from Logroño and lies in a rolling landscape at over 600 metres above sea level on the slopes of Mount Yoar. It is one of the last villages belonging tothe Sierra de Cantabria that runs through the three provinces that make up this wine-making region, thus forming a natural frontier to the north of La Rioja.
All of the 45 hectares of vineyards areorganic; organic fertilizers are used, not herbicides or synthesised chemicals. The wines made from these grapes go on sale under the Denominación de Origen Ecológica as well as the D.O.C. Rioja.The wine is made with a minimum dosis of sulphur dioxide and fined through natural decanting. The various processes avoid aeration and treat the wine very gently, so that the aromas, colour and flavourcan be properly extracted from our quality grapes.
