Becoming a parent… A dream come true!

Opposite of what it would be expected in our society, every day is more frequent finding reproductively challenged couples.There are many causes, perhaps age is the most outlined to increase the numbers, mainly due to academic priorities, lack of a stable couple, economy disadvantages amongothers.
Actually, male infertility is the cause of at least half of reproductive limitations in pregnancy achievements. These causes are increasing through time because ofunhealthy food habits, smoking, drinking, drugging, stress, inflammatory processes, diabetes, sexual transmitted diseases, etc…
In order to make a correct diagnosis, it isnecessary to focus first of all on clinical history, gynecological analysis in the female and a deep andrological study in the male including seminal biochemistry. Andadditionally, complementary cytogenetic studies should be taken if needed.
Once the diagnosis is done, an according protocol should be established to overcome theinfertility cause. The alternatives include intrauterine insemination (IUI), In Vitro fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), anexine columns for spermselection, Preimplantación Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), to name a few.
In some cases, the sperm or embryo bank is centantly the best choice for patients lacking gamete quality,in cases of azoospermic males or females with ovarian insuffiency for instance.
In summary, alternatives for infertile couples are becoming more and more in response toincreasing index. All this is possible enclosed in a scientific, ethic and humanistic environment that contributes to the strong desire of our patients to become parents.
