Egypt
Introduction
When we hear the word “Egypt” we automatically think of pyramids, pharaohs, women dancing and mummies, this is because Egyptian culture is one of the most beautiful, rich and different from all. Its culture is so magnificent that even other cultures have taken ideas to add to their culture.
Egypt has also a well formed government; its government is so strong that evenNapoleon Bonaparte was not able to invade it when he tried.
Today, we are sharing our investigation about this fantastic and magic culture that it Egypt.
Architecture
Wood was not widely available in the arid Egyptian landscape. Houses in ancient Egypt were made with blocks of mud, but flooding of the Nile River and the ravages of time destroyed most of these ancient homes.
Much of what we knowabout ancient Egypt is based on great temples and tombs, which were made with granite and limestone and decorated with hieroglyphics, carvings, and brightly colored frescoes. The ancient Egyptians didn't use mortar, so the stones were carefully cut to fit together.
Pyramids in Egypt
The development of the pyramid form allowed Egyptians to build enormous tombs for their kings. The sloping wallscould reach great heights because their weight was supported by the wide pyramid base.
Columns in Egypt
Builders in ancient Egypt didn't use load-bearing arches. Instead, columns were placed close together to support the heavy stone from above. Brightly painted and elaborately carved, the columns often mimicked palms, papyrus plants, and other plant forms. Over the centuries, at least thirtydistinct column styles evolved.
Influences of Egyptian Architecture
Archaeological discoveries in Egypt reawakened an interest in the ancient temples and monuments. Egyptian Revival architecture became fashionable during the 1800s.

Sculpture
Most art work was done for the pharaoh or his wealthy government officials.  The large works of sculpture were often displayed at temples, which the pharaohwould build to their favorite deity.  Sculptures were stiff, formal, and solemn.   The Egyptians did not strive for realistic depiction, but instead wanted to present a powerful image.  Egyptians used the size of their sculptures to show the social order. The pharaoh was larger then life size, scribes and court officials were life size, and workers and peasants always shown working.  Many of thesmaller statues were constructed out of slate which allowed them to survive over time, while the enormity of other sculptures helped them to survive.

Painting
Most of the painting of Ancient Egypt that has survived was found in tombs of the pharaohs or high governmental officials.  The art is known as funerary art because it is in tombs and depicts scenes of the afterlife.  Tomb paintingswere of everyday life until the New Kingdom about 1550 BC to 1020 BC.  During the New Kingdom the paintings showed different levels of the Egyptian society as well as items the deceased would need in the afterlife.
Much of the Egyptian painting was a mixture of sculpted reliefs which were painted.  Meaning the Egyptians would first carve the rock and then paint the scene over the carved surface. Egyptian depiction of people is very consistent in their proportions and views of the people.  The reason is that the Egyptians used a formula to paint people.
Literature
Literature had initially sprung from religious beliefs but by the nineteenth dynasty involved many different styles including instructions, love poetry, and narrative. Mortuary writing was one of the first genres of Egyptianwriting, first appearing as basic accounts and then growing into tomb autobiography. One of the most famous examples of this is The Book of the Dead. This is a collection of hymns, spells, and advice to help the deceased in the afterlife. It was most often written on a papyrus scroll and richly illustrated. A person would prepare for their death by paying a large sum for the creation of a copy...
