Esperanto is the most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language.
Its name derives from Doktoro Esperanto. the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof published the first book ofEsperanto, the Unua Libro, on July 26, 1887. There are more than 20,000 speakers of Esperanto.

Esperanto has 23 consonants, 5 vowels , and 2 semivowels. The Esperanto alphabet is based on the Latinscript. The alphabet does not include the letters q, w, x, or y. The 28-letter alphabet is: abc ĉ defg g h h ij ¼ klmnoprs ŝ tu ŭ vz
Esperanto words are derived by stringing together prefixes , roots ,and suffixes.
The vocabulary of Esperanto was extracted from many different languages. Most of the vocabulary of Esperanto comes from Latin, directly or through Romance languages (mainly French,Italian and Spanish), and from Germanic languages (German and English), Slavic (Russian and Polish) and from Greek. Some new words find their origin in non-Indo-European languages, such as Japanese. Thecore vocabulary of Esperanto was defined by “Lingvo internacia”, published by Zamenhof in 1887(This book listed 900 roots; these could be expanded into tens of thousands of words using prefixes, suffixes, and compounding.). In 1894, Zamenhof published the first Esperanto dictionary.
Esperanto is by far the most widely spoken constructed language in the world. Speakers are most numerous in Europeand East Asia, especially in urban areas. Esperanto is particularly prevalent in the northern and central countries of Europe; in China, Korea, Japan, and Iran within Asia; in Brazil, Argentina, andMexico in the Americas; and in Togo in Africa. Esperanto has never been a secondary official language of any recognized country (exception:  Moresnet Neutral- first Esperanto state). The first WorldCongress of Esperanto was organized in France in 1905. Since then congresses have been held in various countries every year with the exception of years in which there were world wars.
