1. ABSTRACT.
In this essay we will analyze the role played John PaulII and the Solidarity Movement in the transition from a communist to a democratic and capitalist.
To the advent of this transition is important to see how different social groups who opposed the government that existed in communist Poland joined in their efforts to achieve the same end.
2. INTRODUCTION.
In the late twentieth century the world had revolved around a bipolar, changeddramatically since the Soviet Union and is not considered as a powerful rival to U.S. "In 1989 the impossible happened. A political order established for decades, with unparalleled appearance of solidity, slumped over a few months in the region usually known as Eastern Europe. But most surprising is that this transformation was not limited to one country but affecting six sovereign states. " It is for thisreason that all member nations of the former Republic - Soviet revolutionary experience a rapid process giving results in a domino effect.
Poland has been considered one of the first nations of Central and Eastern Europe initiators of change for the transformation of communist system to a democratic process. This event could not have been done if the collapse of the Soviet Union had not beenconsummated. This means that it was because of his fall, which allowed the 1989 revolutions in Poland and abroad ex - Soviet quickly, simultaneously and suddenly, encouraging a transition from dictatorship to democratic systems and recovery for sovereignty national. It should be noted that Poland was substantially favored unlike other communist nations, since all its democratic transition took placepeacefully without reaching the end of a civil war or fatal consequences.Like most of the ex - Soviet Poland had a certain group of opposition against the communist dictatorship, with the aim of carrying out a transition to the pursuit of democracy and a market economy benefiting the Polish citizenship. They were the actors to carry out the political transition that was based on a democracy ofWestern tradition. But this brought many obstacles because the Communist Party did not conceive the fact that I had to abandon their privileged position given by the socialist system.
Poland was willing to carry out democracy as in Western countries. It was in these nations where democracy is conceived as a system of government that met the competition between individuals and organized groups, a highlevel of political participation in selection of leaders as well as civil and political liberties sufficient to ensure the integrity of competition and political participation. Poland not only wanted a democracy represented by the expression of political rights and civic participation but people had the power to prosecute its own economic and social welfare.
3. JOHN PAUL II.
Moreover,in thepolitical transition must also be recognize the significant role played by the Catholic Church and Pope John Paul II to achieve successful transformation from a socialist system to a democratic system. Perhaps these players were not important for the Polish transition, if communism in Poland would not have allowed the Catholic religion. But given the need to provide a way to relieve theauthoritarianism of the government, decided to recognize that religion.
For a better understanding of what previously explained, is to show that the Catholic Church, especially Pope John Paul II played a role important for the democratic transition in Poland thus forgetting entirely the communist system.
