Are energy drinks really what they seem to be?
The controversy between the energy companies and researches has grown the last
couple of years due to medical related incidents related to theconsumption of energy drinks.
The energy drink companies claim the drinks stimulate the mind and body. Also they claim that
this product is advertised to young adults and athletes. According to theenergy drink
companies the said product is a natural alternative to make better last the cognitive and
physical, concentration, attention and awareness.
On the other hand, studies reflect theopposite as what the energy drinks companies are
claiming. The studies done by researches show that the secondary effects of the drinks are bad
to the health because of the ingredients of which saidproduct is made of. Some of the
ingredients found are glocuronolactone, taurine, caffeine, B vitamins, ginseng, artificial sugars,
guarana, ginkgo, biloba and milk thistle. In the artificial sugarsone of them called aspartame
which is a substance known to rattle the natural cancer cell of the human body and guarana is
also a substance for concern since the levels of caffeine are so high. Theside effects of the drink
are some of worrisome to the health some of what has been reported are seizers, cardiac
arrest, problems in the nervous system, high blood pressure, anxiety anddepression. It’s also

speculated that other long term side effects could be brain dysfunction, resistance to insulin,
diabetes, kidney problems among other, but since these energy drink products hasnot been on
the market long enough a long term research has not yet come to a conclusion.
According to the National Institution of Health, the health risks has increased since it’s
been knownof adults mixing this product with alcoholic beverages, doing this can increase the
