Energy Of Seeds
Bioenergy or thermodynamics is the study of the energy changes that accompany chemical reactions. Biological systems are essentially isothermic and use chemical energy to power livingprocesses. The way the animal gets ideal fuel from its food to provide this energy is basic to the understanding of nutrition and normal metabolism. Starvation occurs when energy available depletes andcertain forms of nutrition in relationship to energy imbalance.
Food store energy. When an animal eats seeds then their body turns stored energy (chemical energy) into other forms of energy, forexample, the energy used to move (kinetic energy). In addition, some of the energy is converted to heat (heat energy) maintaining body temperature.
The seeds are rich in monounsaturated andpolyunsaturated fats, and are good sources of fiber, B vitamins, vitamin E, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and iron. They also contain a significant amount of protein. In those who consume meat and dairy is notan issue, but may be important in vegans to complete essential amino acid requirements.
OBJECTIVE
To verify that food provides the energy to those who consume it and have it stored
MATERIALS
peanut seed
almond seed
pumpkin seed
walnut seed
extended clip
cork plugs
Test Tube
thermometer
test tube clamp
lighter
METHODOLOGY
1. In cork plugs stuck a clip extendedand at the end of a nail clip seeds
2. Seeds were placed in a test tube and 5 ml of water was introduced thermometer for measuring the water temperature applications. This was recorded as the initialtemperature.
3. The seed was heated off test tube with 5 ml of water. The tube was held with forceps to avoid burns. The results were recorded. Will took the total time that takes me to burn seed andtake that water reached 100 º C.
4. The same procedure was repeated with the other three seeds.
5. Comparisons were made with different results.
RESULTS
Seed initial Tº of water Time in 100º...
