Euthanisia

If my 13 year old lab had had cancer, was loosing weight and becoming less active, I would choose not to euthanize her. There are many reasons why I think that euthanization should not be used, andwhy I would not use it personally. Rather than euthanize my animal, I would choose to make her life the best it could be, for her last days. I would spend the money I had, on medicines to ease herpain, and things to pamper her and make her as happy as possible, for the remainder of her life.
One of the reasons I would choose not to euthanize my lab, would be because euthanization is notsomething we use on people. I would consider a pet a member of the family, and most people say the same thing. However, If someone’s 90 year old grandmother had cancer, I don't they would choose to euthanizeher. I also don't believe any doctors would agree to do it. The only condition where something close to euthanization is used on humans, is when someone is on life support and requires the assistanceof a machine to stay alive. In this case, if the person is showing no signs of improvement, their families usually choose to remove the machine. If your pet was in this same situation, I believe itshould also be the families decision. However, when a family makes the choice to euthanize their pet, the pet is usually sick, but still alive and conscious.
Another reason I would avoideuthanization is because animals can't make the choice for themselves, whether or not they want to be euthanized. It wouldn't be fair for anything, to have to be put to death, when it didn't even know why orwhat was going on. Animals don't have the mind to make these decisions, so why should we have to force it upon them? Sure, since we adopt them and agree to take care of them, we have to make mostdecisions for them (ex. what to feed them, when they go for walks, how many treats they get..etc.), but life or death is the ultimate decision, and not one that should be placed upon anyone, except the...
