Swot analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats involved in a Project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieve that objective.
El análisisFODA es un método de planificación estratégica para evaluar las fortalezas, debilidades, oportunidades y amenazas involucradas en un proyecto o en un negocio. Se trata de precisar el objetivo de la empresa de negocio o proyecto y la identificación de los factores internos y externos que son favorables y desfavorables para alcanzar dicho objetivo.



A Swot analysis must first start withdefining a desired end state or objective. A Swot analysis may be incorporated into the strategic planning model.
Un análisis FODA debe primero comenzar con la definición de un estado final deseado u objetivo. Un análisis FODA puede ser incorporado en el modelo de planificación estratégica.


Identification of swots is essential because subsequent steps in the process of planning for achievement ofthe selected objective may be derived from the swots.
Identificación de FODA es esencial, ya que los pasos siguientes en el proceso de planificación para el logro del objetivo seleccionado se pueden derivar del FODA.




First, the decision makers have to determine whether the objective is attainable, given the swots. If the objective is NOT attainable a different objective must be selectedand the process repeated.

En primer lugar, los tomadores de decisiones tienen que determinar si el objetivo es alcanzable, teniendo en cuenta el FODA. Si el objetivo no se puede alcanzar un objetivo diferente debe ser seleccionado y se repite el proceso.

A Swot analysis process generates information that is helpful in matching an organization or group’sgoals, programs, and capacities to the social environment in which it operates. The Swot itself is only a data capture exercise- the analysis follows later.
Un proceso de análisis FODA genera información que es útil en la adecuación de una organización o grupo de metas, programas y capacidades para el entorno social en el que opera. El DAFO en sí es sólo una captura de datos por el ejercicio delanálisis sigue adelante.


Strengths: positive tangible and intangible attributes, internal to an organization and within the organization’s control.
Fortalezas: atributos tangibles e intangibles positivos internos a una organización y bajo el control de la organización.


Weaknesses: internal factors within an organization’s control that detract from the organization’s ability to attainthe desired goal. Which areas might the organization improve?
Debilidades: factores internos dentro del control de una organización que le restan capacidad de la organización para alcanzar la meta deseada. ¿Qué áreas podría mejorar la organización?


Opportunities: external attractive factors that represent the reason for an organization to exist and develop. What opportunities exist in theenvironment, which will propel the organization? Identify them by their “time frames”
Oportunidades: factores atractivos externos que representan la razón de una organización para existir y desarrollarse. ¿Qué oportunidades existen en el entorno, lo que impulsará la organización? Identificar por sus " calendarios”


Threats: external factors beyond the organization’s control which could place theorganization mission or operation at risk. The organization may benefit by having contingency plans to address them if they should occur. Classify them by their severity and probability of occurrence.
