The protagonist and all humanity live their lives quietly, they can’t imagine that Martians was preparing an attack on Earth, a missile was launched and from Earth it looks like a blobs of gas.
Whenone of the missiles come here, people thought it was a meteorite, Ogilvy went to see him, he was surprised to see it was a cylindrical capsule, thinking that there were people trapped inside, went toseek help, he found a friend, but nobody more believed him.
The next day there were many people surrounding the cylinder, the protagonist also went to see him but nothing happened and the cylinderwas closed. After a while a boy fell into the hole that the cylinder had made, and then opened, creatures emerged and the boy disappeared, the rest of the people began to run away.
People was hidinginto the bushes, but aliens used lasers to kill people; were destroying everything and the protagonist was terrified, luckily all stop, he was alone in the dark.
He returned home, there were peoplewho hadn’t heard anything; his wife was impressed by the story. One day Martians started to attack the army, why had come to fight, the protagonist ran away of the town with his wife using a carriage.After standing in Leatherhead he came back to Maybury to return the carriage, but he watched other cylinder and a kind of huge tripod that went towards him, he went to his house to hide, there asoldier told him progress of the Martians.
After a while, they set out for Leatherhead, the soldiers settled cannons, arrived five Martians machines, one of them was hit by a grenade and fell into ariver, exploded and formed a wave of boiling water, the protagonist escaped injured.
The protagonist tell the brother’s experience in London, where nobody know very well what was going on, when theydiscovered how were Martians machines, people scared. The army was preparing, but could do little, when the Martians arrived; they threw a kind of gas that killed anyone who inhaled it.
