COMPUTER CONTROLLED DRILLING
DESCRIPTION
The ONRAM 2000 CCD is a completely new core drill incorporating the well proven Computer Control System used in ONRAM 1000/4 CCD for controlof the drilling operation. The Computer Control System is incorporated in a PC unit and is integrated in a Windows environment. The system is very flexible both in terms of individual operatorrequirements and new applications. The operator will set the proper machine limits and drilling parameters and initiate the drilling operation, set the drill in “AUTO” mode and then just watch the drillexecutive a full cycle of drilling a “run”, including one or several regrippings of the drill rod. During the entire operation the ONRAM 2000 CCD will automatically compensate for changes in drillingconditions in order to optimise drilling within the pre-set parameter range. The operator will have the possibility to interfere during any phase of the drilling by making changes to the pre-setparameters or to make an immediate take-over the operation in a fully manual mode. The Control Panel has a touch screen where all operation commands in the “AUTO” mode will be executed. The presentation atthe panel is very operator friendly and it features both analogue and digital display of drill data very clearly, both logically and visually. The operator has the option to run entirely manually withthe joysticks in a fashion that somewhat resembles the operation of an “old-fashioned” drill. This feature may even lead to a faster and shorter operator familiarisation process. The ACR-system (AutoCore Retrieval) in combination with the well-proven Hagby Thin Wall Wireline system automatically performs the cycle pumping in the overshot and retrieving the inner tube. The Recording andpresentation system will allow the Geologist or Engineer a base for making multi-variable analyses of drilling sequences and the influence from varying rock conditions in the drill hole.
