Holocausto

Eleven million people died during the Holocaust. Six million of them were Jews (Kishlansky 925). During World War II, Adolph Hitler was Germany´s dictator. When he came to power in 1933 he wanted tohave “anschluzz”, that means German unification. He wanted to exterminate every other race that was not pure German. He made a political party called the Nazi Party. The Nazi Party was againsteveryone that was not pure German or against Hitler. He especially hated the Jews and saw them as less important than animals. He blamed the Jews for losing World War I. He particularly discriminated theJews and treated them badly. He sent them to ghettos and concentration camps, where they had to live in horrible conditions and work exhaustedly and with almost no food. Many Jews had to go into hidingtrying to avoid their capture by the Nazis. The Jews were the race that suffered the most during the Holocaust.

Jewish people were discriminated for no reason. In the night of November 9thand10thof 1938, the “Night of the Broken Glass” occurred. A lot of violence happened. The Nazis destroyed and burned Jewish stores, businesses, temples, synagogues and physically attacked Jews (Rosenberg).The Nuremberg laws were made on September 15, 1935, and were against the Jews. For example, it said that a Jew could not marry a German and also took away the Jew’s right to vote. Later, the Nazismade anti-Jews laws. In these laws, it said that Jews could not go to parks, theaters, etc. It fired Jews that worked in the government; did not allowed Jewish doctors to work on patients that weren’tJewish; separated the Jews from the German schools; Jews were not allowed to own any pets; they were not allowed to leave their country; they were prohibited to use the public telephones They wereforced to wear a yellow star of David on their clothes so they could be recognized (Rosenberg).

Jewish people were so scared that they had to go into hiding. Many families hid in places like...
