RESUMEN: (OBJETIVOS Y METODOLOGIA DEL PROYECTO)
El Objetivo de este estudio consiste enla implementación y valoración de un programa de participación familiar en los
cuidados del paciente crítico, modificando así la política restrictiva de visitas en la unidad de cuidados intensivos.
Metodologia: Estudio experimental, longitudinal y prospectivo, de series temporales, con grupo de control aleatorio.
Este programa de implicación familiar será valorado en función de tres variablesdependientes: pacientes, cuidador
principal y personal sanitario.
Paciente: Estado cognitivo del enfermo, medido mediante el mini-mental state examination test.
Cuidador principal: Niveles de ansiedad estado de los cuidadores principales, medidos mediante el test de STAI.
Personal sanitario: Opinión de las enfermeras sobre los cambios introducidos en la UCI, valorados mediante escala deactitudes tipo Likert.
Los sujetos incluidos en el programa de implicación familiar serán los enfermos ingresados en las catorce camas de la
UCI polivalente del Hospital Universitario Virgen de Valme de Sevilla y sus familiares/cuidadores, y los enfermos
ingresados en las siete camas de la UCI del Hospital Duques del Infantado y sus familiares.
Se realizará un muestreo cruzado aleatoriosistemático entre los sujetos que ingresen en las camas descritas, hasta
alcanzar el tamaño muestral establecido.
Los familiares del grupo experimental tras una charla informativa accederán a la UCI en horario de 8´30 a 10 horas
todos los días y colaborarán en los cuidados básicos de su enfermo (higiene, movilización, fisioterapia, alimentación..).
Posteriormente accederá de nuevo a las 13´30 y a las17´00 – 20´30 horas para colaborar en la alimentación, (almuerzo
y cena) y cuidados, excepto la higiene.
Si se valora la efectividad del programa, se considerará su implantación sistemática en la unidad de cuidados intensivos.

The aim of this study is the implementation and valuation of the family member participation in the critically ill patient
care, by changing the intensive care unit restrictive visiting policy.
Methodology: Experimental, longitudinal and prospective study, temporal series, with a random control group. This
family implication program will be valued according to three dependentparameters: Patient, family carer and nursing
staff.
Patient: Cognitive state, measured by using the mini-mental state examination test.
Family visitor: Family principal carer anxiety state levels, measured using STAI test.
Nursing staff: Nurses´ beliefs about changes introduced in the ICU, valued using attitude Likert type scale.
The subjects included in the family implication program will be thepatients admitted in the 14 beds of the polyvalent
ICU in the “Hospital Universitario Virgen de Valme” (Sevilla) and their family carer members and patients admitted in
the 7 bed ICU in “Hospital Duques del Infantado” (Sevilla) with their family carer too.
A systematic random crossed sample will performed with the patients admitted in these ICU beds until the established
sample size is reached.After an informative talk, the experimental family members group will have access to the ICU from 8´30 to 10´00 every
day, participating in the patient basic care (hygienic care, mobilization help, physiotherapy, feeding). Later, they will
have access at 13´30 and from 17´00 to 20´30 to participate in feeding (lunch and dinner) and all the rest of the care,
except hygiene.
