Michel Deisenmann SánchezPURPOSE: we will do this experiment to distinguish acids from bases, basing on the result of the experiment.
INTRODUCTION: In thisexperiment we are going to use three types of indicators, red cabbage, roses and Jamaica flower. Indicators are very special chemicals that change color if you change the pH (by adding acid or base). Abase is the one that donates an electron pair and the acid is the one that accepts an electron pair. The acidity or basicity of a substance is defined most typically by the pH value, defined as below:pH = -log[H+]

HYPOTHESIS: I think that most of the substances are bases because they have a light color and the three indicators that we are using have a very dark color, so I think the colors willchange dramatically.

PROCEDURE: to go to the laboratory first of all we used safety equipment, lab coat, latex gloves and goggles or safety lenses, to maintain use protect when doing thecombination of substances and indicators. We were separated in teams, and each team has its own material. First we separated each substance in a container including T1 and T2, then with a syringe we startputting an indicator to each substance; we do this two times with each of the indicators. When doing the experiment I was writing all the reactions and changes of each substance, so that we can show ourresult, finally we cleaned all the containers and we settled them were they have to be.

* Containers
* Syringe
* Notebook and pen (to take notes)
* Safety equipment(lab coat, latex gloves and goggles)
* Tape (for naming each substance)
* Toilet paper (to clean the containers and the table were we were working)
