INTERVIEW
In This project we have interviewed a teacher of maths, his name is Cristobal Quezada Raquelich and he studied in UMCE .

Questions:

* What can you tell us about yourself?

Well, I am a professor of mathematics, I am 26 years old, I have 2 years of working experience, I like to teach maths to make it easier for students.

Bueno, soy profesor de Matemática, tengo 26 años,llevo 2 años ejerciendo la profesión, me gusta enseñar matemáticas y hacerlas más fáciles para los estudiantes.

* When did you decide to work in the educational area?

It was a difficult decision for me because my family pressured me to take another route. When I was 18 I knew the career to pursuit was maths teaching, but I entered engineering because my family wanted me to. Afterthe first year I decided really wanted my whole life.

Fue una decisión difícil para mí, porque mi familia me presiono a tomar otro camino. Cuando tenía 18 yo sabía que la carrera que debía estudiar era pedagogía matemática, Pero ingrese a estudiar ingeniería por mi familia. Luego del primer y segundo año tome la decisión de estudiar lo que realmente quise toda mi vida.

* Why are you interested inthe education?

I became interested in education for several reasons, one is that Chile is located in the last positions of education in the world because math has always been a difficulty for students, and I want a better education for my students, I think I can make a difference, as there are many shortcomings in this area in Chile.

Me interese en la educación por varias razones, una deellas es porque chile está situado en las últimas posiciones de educación en el mundo y porque las matemáticas siempre han sido una dificultad para los estudiantes, y quiero una mejor educación para mis estudiantes, creo que puedo marcar la diferencia, ya que hay muchas falencias en este ámbito en la educación chilena.

* What do you think about Chilean education?

The Chileaneducation system is very particular in a bad way (from my point of view). It is a very segregated education system, as this is governed by the free market and quality public education is in schools of excellence which make a great filter (according to capacity) and to sum up, those schools with the selection process do not reflected if their teachers are good or not since they select the best students.

Elsistema de educación chilena es muy particular, de una mala manera a mi modo de ver .Es una educación muy segregada por el sistema, ya que este se rige por el libre mercado y la educación pública de calidad está en los colegios de excelencia en los cuales hacen un gran filtro (realizado según capacidades) y en resumen esos colegios con el proceso de selección que tienen no refleja si sus profesoresson buenos o no, ya que seleccionan los mejores estudiantes.

* Is your job full time?

I think anyone would be devoted to teach has a full time job.

Creo que toda persona que se dedique a ser profesor tiene un trabajo de horario completo.

* Why did you choose this job?

I like teaching. In general there are many shortcomings in math as I said before.
For an example: themisuse of the root in the quadratic equations.

Me gusta enseñar, en general hay muchas falencias en matemática como dije anteriormente.
Por dar un ejemplo veamos el mal uso de la raíz en las ecuaciones cuadráticas.

* How do you see yourself in the next 4 years?

I see myself using many more tools for my pedagogical work, like starting to write a book.
And a lot of gray hair, jajaja, yet withpatience and desire to teach.

Me veo con muchas más herramientas para mi quehacer pedagógico, empezando a escribir un libro.
Y con muchas canas, jajaja, pero aún con paciencia y ganas de enseñar.

* How many years have you been working?

I've been working 2 years, I spend my first year making replacements and tuition and the second are in a semi-public school.
