WHAT IS RECYCLING?

Recycling is the process in which the waste or waste materials are collected and processed into new materials that can be used or sold as new products or commodities.
Recycling is therefore the action to re-enter the cycle of production and consumption waste materials derived products.
Ideally, to avoid harming the environment isto assign each residue to its treatment: recyclables to recycling, composting compostable to-decomposition or biological transformation of organic material. The result of the decomposition of organic waste from kitchen and garden waste is compost or humus, a dark soil conditioner rich in nutrients.

In an ecological worldview, recycling is the fourth and final step in the goal of reducingwaste, the first would be to reduce consumption, the second and third production reuse.
The waste is classified into two major groups-biodegradable organic waste that can decompose and merge back to nature. And non-biodegradable, which do not undergo any process of decomposition or which process is not spontaneous and requires long periods of time, include hazardous waste or biohazard. Although typesboth can be widely utilized should recycle non-biodegradable as:

* Glass: all kinds of bottle shapes and colors, also mirrors and broken glass.
* Paper and cardboard: newspapers, books, books and magazines obsolete.
* Plastic containers, toys or household items.
* Metals: umbrellas, screws, tools and metal things useless.
* Plastic Bottles: disposable beverage containers.* Cans: containers of beer in cans or lubricants, additives, vegetable oils, etc..
* Disposable Containers: Boxes, containers, cups and paper plates or plastic.
* Wood furniture for the development of agglomerates.

Why is it important to recycle?

It can save large amounts of nonrenewable natural resources when production processes using recycled materials. Renewable resources, liketrees, can also be saved. The use of recycled products decreases the energy consumption. When you use less fossil fuels, generate less CO2 and thus less acid rain and reduce the greenhouse effect.
To reduce waste, extends the life of landfills, work that is quite expensive, especially for land uses and the adequacy of this.
Solid waste materials that are not recovered or recycled, will causegreat harm to land, as some take hundreds of years to decompose and others never do.

What are the benefits to society of recycling?

* For every tone of aluminum thrown into landfill must remove 4 tons of bauxite (the ore from which is obtained). During the manufacture of two tons of waste produced highly polluting and difficult to remove.

* In the case of paper is reduceddeforestation, and that to produce one ton of paper to be cut down 17 trees. In contrast, that same ton may occur with a high percentage of waste paper. Colombian industries produce paper with 56% wood pulp and 44% recycled material.

* The glass is made from earth minerals that does not return to replace. Currently used to produce glass 50% of natural resources and 50% of hull, which is recycledglass. For every ton of recycled glass is saving 30 gallons of oil.

* Generate employment. In Colombia, about 250 000 people living from recycling, making this activity an important subsector in the national economy. Also produces resources to social welfare institutions and community organizations. The companies get as much raw material of excellent quality at lower cost.

* In the caseof paper, made in part from recycled materials, energy saving is 30%.

* In the production of glass is saved from 10 to 15% of energy per tonne of recycled material.

* To produce aluminum from recycled material requires only 38% of the energy required to process bauxite.

* To produce one ton of aluminum requires 31 barrels of oil, while it only takes 2 barrel when using...
