Paul Cézanne was an impressionist and he was the first artist topropose geometrization and synthesis of shapes in artworks. He said nature could be narrowed to three basic shapes: the cube, the cylinder and the sphere.
He used lots of planes of color and smallbrushstrokes that formed, at the end, complex fields.
They say Cézanne was the one that formed the bridge between the last years of 19th century impressionism and the beginning of the 20th century'snew line of artistic investigation: Cubism.
